INUYASHA:
WHEEEEE! ALL HAIL INUYASHA! THE COOLEST GUY OF ALL!!!Inuyasha is a dog hanyou (half demon). He once desired the Shikon no Tama (The Jewel Of 4 Souls) to make him a full demon, but he was sealed away to a tree by a miko (Shinto priestess) named Kikyo, who immediately died afterward. 60 years later (I've heard that it was 60 years in the anime and 50 in the manga, but I could be mistaken, I mean, it's just a number), a girl from the modern age came and freed him from the tree, whereas he tried to kill her because she looked like Kikyo, and she had the Shikon no Tama with her. During battle, a magic rosary was thrown around his neck and he was subdued by Kagome's one word "SIT!". During a battle with a crow demon, the Shikon Jewel was shattered, and he was made against his will to follow and protect Kagome while they quested to recover them.
Inuyasha may have issues revolving around anger management, and may appear to be rather gruff and sulky a lot of the time, but occasionally, signs of loyalty and care for Kagome and his other friends start to show. He uses a powerful katana called Tetsusaiga (in the anime they spell it Tessaiga for some reason...), which was forged from his daddy's fang. It may appear to be rather junky until he transforms it into a huge fang-resembling sword, which has a whole bunch of cool attacks that can shatter a horde of demons to particles! Wheeeee!
On New Moon, he changes into a full human with black hair. This is his most vulnerable time, and he tries to keep it a secret. Unfortunately, more and more people keep figuring it out. Also, after his Tetsusaiga is shattered, Inuyasha turns into a Full Demon with red and blue eyes and purple slashes on each cheek when he is close to death. Only the Tetsusaiga can change him back and seal his demon blood, and of course, Kagome's sit, and another solution.....
KAGOME HIGARUSHI:
Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyo, the miko who protected the legendary Shikon Jewel and who sealled Inuyasha to the Go-Shinboku tree. She was pulled into a mystic well called the Bone Eater's Well, and fell 500 years into the past, where she released Inuyasha from the spell that kept him dormant (though he said he was "killed", I think he was more sleeping because why else would Kaede say "that spell was never meant to break if he was dead?) for 60 years. Kagome unknowingly carried the Shikon no Tama within her, and during a battle with Mistress Centipede, it was torn from her body ( Someone thought it was a keychain that the grandpa was selling. IT ISN'T!!!). Inuyasha attempted to kill her because she looked like Kikyo, and because he wanted her jewel. But, because of Kaede throwing a magic rosary around his neck, she is able to subdue him by saying "SIT!"
During battle with a crow demon, Kagome accidentally shattered the Shikon Jewel, turning it into a helluvalotta little pieces which fell all over Japan. She was then gaven the task to find all the Shikon no Kakera (Shikon Shards) before more harm could be done by demons and humans who got hold of them. She starts out to be really bad with a bow (but hey, I can't shoot a bow to save my life...I'm a katana hanyou myself...), but after a while, she gets pretty good at shooting it.
MIROKU:
Miroku... ah, Miroku. Well, he's a Buddhist monk, with....a tiny woman obsession. He was cursed with a hell hole in his right hand, which is said to one day swallow him whole. Starting with his grandfather, his family line was cursed with the wind tunnel by Naraku, and until Naraku is defeated, the curse will continue to pass on down his family line. He is determined to destroy Naraku (I may be wrong, but isn't he kinda going against the Buddhist teachings just a little bit?). He is most famous for this line," Excuse me miss, but will you please bear my child?" He seems though to develop a relationship towards Sango, but he needs to clean up his act first with the lechery...
SANGO:
Sango is the last of her village of demon exterminators. Her family was killed by Naraku's treachery, making her own brother Kohaku attack her and kill her father and fellow exterminators. Meanwhile, her villiage was descimated by demons. She at first thinks that Inuyasha was responsible for the attacks, but she later finds out that Naraku had diseaved her. She joins the Inuyasha-tachi, determined to avenge her family and her villiage. She later finds out that her brother Kohaku, is still alive, but serving Naraku because his memory was erased and a Shikon shard was put into his back to keep him alive. She then becomes focused on freeing him from Naraku's grasp.
She wields an assortment of weapons (including a katana which she's only used once, poison powder, a chain thingy, and a hidden blade on her arm), but her most used weapon is her huge bone boomerang Hiraikotsu. She also has a cat demon pet named Kirara (She's called Kilala because the Japanese language doesn't have L's in it, but I like Kirara better.), which can turn from a cute little kitten to a HUGE panther looking cat with flaming feet that can fly! I wish I had a cat that could do that!
SHIPPO & KIRARA:
Shippo is a fox demon kit that was orphaned when the Thunder Brothers, Hiten and Manten, killed his parents (actually, they only mention the father dying. Never really mentioned the mother, except once in the manga). Shippo joined Inuyasha and Kagome on their quest after they defeated the Thunder Bros. It seems Shippo's favorite hobbies are bugging Inuyasha, coloring, bugging Inuyasha, being cute, and....bugging Inuyasha.
Kirara is a cute kitty demon, but when she gets mad or senses danger, she transforms into a panther- sized cat with huge fangs and flaming feet. She can fly and serves most of the time as a means of transportation. She belongs currently to Sango, but before, evidence has been uncovered that she once fought alongside the powerful Modori-ko, the priestess from which the Shikon no Tama was born from.
KOGA:
Hail Koga, King of Really Speedy Peoples Who Wear Furry Skirts! (I mean, Man Kilts...)ehem....actually, he's a young chieftan of the Eastern Wolf Demon Clan. He starts out with three jewel shards, but one gets lost during battle with the Harpy King and Kagome takes it. The shards enable him to run superhellafast, I mean, so fast that he can generate whirlwinds! He claims Kagome is his mate, but Inuyasha won't hear any of it and Kagome denies it. He is really loyal, but a little thick headed. He relies on his instincts a lot, but nonetheless, keeps getting into trouble. He vows to destroy Naraku because his bretheren were all slaughtered by Kagura; Naraku's Incarnation.
Personally, I think this guy is one of the best and funniest characters on the show! Along with his two wolf demon followers: Ginta and Hakkaku, who always get left behind while they follow their leader all over the countryside like one huge cross-country race.
KIKYO:
Argh... Kikyo. What things can I say...NICE...about Kikyo....? Hmm. (as you all should know by now, I LOATHE KIKYO!!!! Except for before she died. She was cool then. But when she's ressurected, Yikes.) Well... she was the one who sealled Inuyasha away to the Go-Shinboku tree. She was in love with Inuyasha while she lived, and her duty was to protect the Sacred Shikon Jewel. But Naraku's deception caused her to think Inuyasha had betrayed her when he promised to meet her one morning to use the Shikon Jewel to become full human. Believeing that Inuyasha was the one who delivered a fatal wound to her, she sealled him away, and ordered her younger sister; Kaede, to burn the Shikon no Tama with her remains.
60 years later, a demon named Urasue ressurected her using her bones and gravesoil, along with Kagome's soul (Since Kagome is Kikyo's Reincarnation). Kikyo, having died thinking Inuyasha had betrayed her, felt only hate and the desire to take him to hell with her. But because of Kagome's will power or some mystic force, Kagome reabsorbed her soul from Kikyo, leaving behind only Kikyo's hate inside the ressurected body.
Kikyo is a little too obsessive over Inuyasha (Not like me, because she wants to kill him and I don't), and she doesn't like Kagome at all because she thinks Kagome is taking her place by Inuyasha.
There's stuff surrounding her and Naraku, but it's kinda difficult to explain, so.... let's move on!!!
SESSHOMARU:
........Great. Sesshy. Not to make any Fluffy Fans out there mad at me, because I, being an Inu hanyou, know there are six things that you don't mess with: 1. A wounded animal. 2. Me when I'm in a bad mood. 3. Baka when she's in a bad mood. 4. Me when I'm in a good mood. 5. Objects that are sharp, really really really hot, or have little sparks coming out of them. and 6. A rabid Sesshomaru fan. So...I'll just keep my mouth shut. OK! Sesshomaru is this guy who loves his boa/tail thingy, likes wearing eyeshadow and eyeliner, and must have a birth defect in his face making him incapable of different expressions. Anyhow, he's Inuyasha's elder half brother who has this whole Sibling Rivalry going on between him and Inuyasha over the Tetsusaiga. (I think he's sore because his daddy gave him a dinky healling sword, whereas his bro got a cool kickbutt one!).
He always says he's gonna kill Inuyasha, but a lot of the time he fails. (Because HANYOU'S RULE!!) Also, he's got this 'hidden concern for my little brother but still hate his guts' kinda thing going on. Because when Inuyasha turns into a full demon, he tells Kagome to give Inuyasha the Tetsusaiga to change him back, and then he sorta teaches Inuyasha how to use the Wind Scar. But, he's more of a baddie than a good guy, so I wouldn't get too worked up about it.
NARAKU:
OOOHHH! Naraku! Well, he may have the appearence of an innocent ill lord, but in reality, he's an evil demon who is the source of everyone's pain. He used to be a severly wounded human bandit named Onigumo, who desired the Shikon no Tama and the Priestess Kikyo. But Inuyasha was the one who Kikyo loved, and Onigumo was probably one step to being a rotting corpse anyway. So, he offered his body and soul to a horde of demons to grant him power and a new body.
He then disguised himself as Inuyasha and Kikyo to make Inuyasha and Kikyo believe that the other had betrayed them. He also is responsible for Miroku's wind tunnel, Sango's family and villiage being slaughtered, Koga's bretheren being killed, and a whole lot of other evil stuff. He likes to parade around in a Baboon Skin getup, and he possesses most of the Shikon no Tama. He also still possesses lingering feelings towards Kikyo, and he uses the Shikon no Kakara to create Alter-egos of himself. Each of them (including Naraku) bears a Spider-shaped scar on their backs; remenants of Onigumo's exsistance.
KAGURA:
Well, since Kagurelle is modeled after Kagura, might as well talk about her. I guess that Rumiko-sama wanted to encorporate a real Sesshy Fan into her story when she created Kagura (Also Sara and Rin, but they're another story.). Kagura is a Wind Witch/Demon. She is an incarnation of Naraku, and because he holds her heart, she is is slave, and must carry out his wishes. She is responsible for the slaughter of the Wolf Demon Clan, and she longs for freedom. She also has taken a liking towards Sesshomaru.
She is the first baddie (that survived) that has seen Inuyasha's human side (I have no clue at the moment whether or not Sesshy has seen him, but I'm talking about Kagura right now so forget about him for now.), but she doesn't tell Naraku about it. Kagura is probably one of the only incarnations that survive the longest, besides her elder sister Kanna.
