The Story...you wanna know about all this madness and how it started? Great. But you always have to make things difficult for me. ME WHO HAS TO DO ALL THE WORK NO THANKS TO MY STUPID COMPUTER WHO IS GETTING STUCK AT THE MOMENT!!!
Ehem... anyway. INUYASHA is written by Rumiko Takahashi. Not to mention she's the creator and artist of INUYASHA, and master of all anime and manga!
Inuyasha is a inu hanyou, or a half dog demon. He desired the Shikon no Tama to become a full demon, but he fell in love with Kikyo, the miko who was put in charge of purifying the jewel. But because of Naraku, an evil demon who was created from a fusion of demons and a human, they believed they had betrayed one another. Kikyo died from a fatal wound, and Inuyasha was sealed away by Kikyo's arrow to a Go-Shinboku tree. Before Kikyo died, she told her younger sister to take the Shikon Jewel and burn it with her remains.
Jump 500 years into the future to the present era. Kagome Higarushi (or Higarushi Kagome), is a young Jr.High School girl who lives at the Sunset Shrine in Tokyo. One day, she gets pulled into the Bone Eater's Well by a demon centipede woman. She falls through time and space and ends up in the Sengoku Jidai. There, she sees a boy who is pinned to a tree by an arrow. And then... the famous pwik pwik noise occurs as she touches his ears. Then, there's the shooom shooom noise and a whole lotta arrows hit the tree (but not Kagome nor Inuyasha. That is a sign that the villiagers need to have more practice shooting.). Kagome is taken captive by the villiagers, and she meets Kaede, an old miko who was Kikyo's younger sister. When she sees Kagome, she realizes that Kagome is actually Kikyo's reincarnation, so she sets her free. But the demon, Mistress Centipede, attacks the villiage, saying, "The Jewel. I must have the Jewel of Four Souls!" And then she attacks Kagome. Kagome takes off towards a light coming from the Forest, which Kaede says that no ordinary human can see.
At this point: Tadadadaaa! Inuyasha wakes up! He sees Kagome and thinks that she's Kikyo, and acts pretty rude to her (what else is new?). Suddenly, Kagome gets seized by the Mistress Centipede, who bites her and a jewel pops out of her (She's got a prize inside? Or is it her bejeweled appendix?). No! It is the Shikon no Tama! Then, Kagome gets crushed against Inuyasha, while the Centipede youkai (demon. Might as well clarify this because we use youkai a lot) devours the Shikon no Tama, which can empower a demon with vast powers! Inuyasha then gets an idea, and tells Kagome to take the arrow out of his chest. Kagome does this, and he starts laughing maniacly and then rips through the demon like it was tissue paper. Then, he tries to kill Kagome because she smells (not to mention looks) like the the woman who killed him. He keeps swiping at her, until Kaede puts this magical rosary around his neck. She then tells Kagome to say a word that will "calm his soul" or else, subdue him by crashing him into the ground. Kagome yells "SIT!!"(oswari in Japanese).
Anyway, to make a LOOONG story shorter, Kagome accidentally shatters the Shikon no Tama with an arrow. It turns into a thousand little teeny tiny pieces and falls all over Japan. Inuyasha and Kagome are then given the responsibility of retriving all the Shikon no Kakera (Shikon Shards) before any evil creatures get their hands on them. What happens to EVERY SINGLE SHARD? They end up in SOME evil guy/girl's hands! Inuyasha gets this kick-butt sword named Tetsusaiga, and they introduce a baddie named Sesshomaru, Inuyasha's No-Good-Pretty-Boy-Full-Demon-Half-Brother, who really wants Inuyasha's sword, but can't get it because he's a full demon and only humans and hanyou's can touch it. Anyway, they meet up with this cute little fox demon named Shippo, a Buddhist monk with a curse named Miroku, who is sort of a lady's man.... and Sango, a demon exterminator with her demon cat Kirara. They all quest together to destroy Naraku, who is the MAJOR bad guy with most of the Shikon Shards, and is the source of everyone's (except Shippo's and Kagome's) misery. And of course, they all journey to find all of the Shikon no Kakera.
Oh, and Kikyo, gets ressurected using bits of her bone and gravesoil, plus Kagome's soul (because of the whole Kagome being Kikyo Reincarnated deal). And she says that since she died hating Inuyasha, she wants to take him to hell with her (we call this the find a new girlfiend stage, Inuyasha.). Anyway, thats mostly the story without giving a WHOLE lot away....
